Usain Bolt won his second gold medal of the 2008 Beijing Olympics on Wednesday when he set a world record in the Men’s 200-Meter race.? He set a world record of 19.59 in the process, breaking American Michael Johnson’s 12 year old record. Bolt won the 100-Meter race in World Record time on Saturday.

The race was filled with controversy as two sprinters were disqualified for leaving their lane, including American Wallace Spearmon, who had finished third.

Wallace Spearmon of the United States finished third but also was disqualified for leaving his lane. He was celebrating along with Bolt — even picking up his friend — carrying the American flag around the track for several minutes after the race and was shocked when an official told him of the DQ.

The U.S. team filed a protest after the race, saying Martina had run out of his lane. The protest was accepted, and that meant Shawn Crawford of the U.S., the defending Olympic champion, ended up with the silver medal. Another American, Walter Dix, ended up with the bronze medal despite being the fifth man across the finish line.

200-Meter Medal Winners

  1. Usain Bolt (Jamaica) - 19:30
  2. Shawn Crawford (USA) - 19:96
  3. Walter Dix (USA) - 19:98

Bolt joins American track stars Carl Lewis and Jesse Owens as the only two people to win gold in both the 100-Meter and 200-Meter at the Olympics.
