The independent movie "Silver Cord" has added Val Kilmer to its cast.  The movie is based on the story of director James Ordonez's brother, who survived being declared clinically dead on multiple occasions before eventually passing away in 2004.  This kind of thing can generally go one of two ways – either the proximity of the writer to the story will imbue it with a unique personality and really help you invest in the characters, or it'll go too far and beatify the people involved, sapping the circumstances of any subtlety or anything that might be construed as "challenging."  The casting of Val Kilmer doesn't help me decide which direction it's going to go, but at the very least, the guy can act.  So it's got that going for it, which is good.
