Bret Michaels loves music so much that it was one of the things that drove him to star in his own reality series, Rock of Love.  The 44-year-old musician and lead vocalist of Poison said in an interview last month that he agreed to do the series partly because he was given the opportunity to incorporate his music in the show.

“Part of my whole reason for doing the show was that I would get to write the music for the show and get to play music,” Michaels told PR.com.  “Most of the music in the show is solo material and Poison material.  So you’re getting the best of both worlds.  If you didn’t have music in a show by a musician, then that would be absolutely fake.”

However, this does not mean that Michaels is using the reality series to promote his music. Rather, he said that he understands the nature of Rock of Love, and knew full well what he was getting into when he signed up to do it.

“It’s bizarre dating on TV,” he said of his reality series.  “The first time they had asked me to do this show I was still in a relationship that was coming to an end, and I said, ‘At this time it’s not right for me to do it. I don’t want to fake the show.  If I’m single in the future and you’re still looking for somebody, it would be great.’"

In the premiere episode of Rock of Love, Bret Michaels was introduced to 25 different women, all willing to do anything in order to capture his heart.  However, Michaels said that ultimately, he is looking for someone who shares some of his endearing qualities.

“[What]I’m looking for is a great sense of energy and humor combined.  I’m very self- deprecating.  I’ll make fun of myself before I will put someone else down.  I’m looking for that in a woman as well… I don’t like high maintenance…  And I don’t like anybody who talks down to people.  I don’t speak down to anyone who works around me, and so I won’t put up with it in a relationship,” he said.

Aside from Rock of Love, Bret Michaels has also been busy performing with Poison for their summer tour.  Their final stop will be HiFi Buys Amphitheater in Atlanta on September 3.
