As a dancer and television star, Dance War’s Carrie Ann Inaba is pretty much professionally obligated to keep fit and trim. While we’ve seen that some celebrities can take the body obsession too far, there are some benefits to working in a profession where physical fitness is important. After all, if you make your living in an industry where a toned figure is pretty much a job requirement, it probably makes it much easier to prioritize fitting those gym visits into your schedule.
For many of us non-celebrities, though, it can be difficult to always find time for exercise, even though most of us know just how important it is for one’s health and longevity, not just appearance. In order to bring encourage women to make time for this important activity, the Dance War star and other celebrities are offering some special items in an online auction.
Carrie Ann, along with singer-songwriter and actress Alanis Morissette, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross of Desperate Housewives, and country music star LeAnn Rimes, have provided autographed copies of red Carlos Santana shoes to be sold in an online auction benefiting the Red Shoe Initiative.
The Initiative, is, according to its website, “pioneered by Spirit of Women, a national coalition of hospitals and healthcare facilities across the U.S. joined together to improve women’s health and wellness.
The Initiative’s red shoes symbolize commitment to taking action and making healthier choices in the fight against heart attacks and stroke, the leading killers of women in America.”
The goal is to inspire women to “take steps for health,” meaning getting active through movement like dance.
The Dance War star and Dancing with the Stars judge isn’t the only Dancing star to participate: Laila Ali and Samantha Harris have also offered up autographed shoes for the event in the past.
Carrie Ann’s shoes as a pair of cherry red open-toed wedges, and will be available through the auction at RedShoeInitiative.com.
