While others consider The Unit as a ground-breaking military drama that depicts heroism and a number of dangerous missions, others regard it as a complex and unconventional show that strongly addresses real-world relevant issues with cleverness and audacity. This is what show executive producer Shawn Ryan and the rest of the people behind the action thriller series created by David Mamet want to convey to its viewers, distinctively channeling their sentiments in two of the show’s upcoming episodes which airs tonight and on November 13.

In the seventh episode of The Unit entitled “Five Brothers,” which airs tonight, the team is in Lebanon and embarks on a dangerous rescue mission. During a fight, Grey (Michael Irby) becomes critically wounded and Jonas (Dennis Haysbert) and Williams (Demore Barnes) must perform an emergency battlefield surgery on Grey in an effort to keep him alive.
According to Ryan, tonight’s episode of The Unit neatly ties in with the episode scheduled to air the following week entitled “Play 16,” which both deal with the death of a Unit member and shows the morally complicated world of the military.
"In the current war we are fighting, military deaths are reported, but the arrivals of caskets and the memorial services themselves [rightly or wrongly] are entirely private," Ryan said. "These two episodes pull back the curtains for the American public to see the reality of what can go wrong for our Special Forces soldiers in combat and what happens after such a tragedy and how it affects the military community at large."
"These men die for each other, not for you or your boss," Ryan added.
As tonight’s storylines trample on next week’s episode, the show features Grey still hurting from the mission but recuperating in a hospital while Jonas is outside the United States on yet another perilous mission.
Catch The Unit every Tuesday at 9pm ET/PT on CBS.
