Kaya, one of MTV’s newest shows, features the story of a beautiful, young rock star and her band as they struggle to stay on top of their game as rising musicians while keeping their personal lives in order.
Danielle Savre stars as Kaya, lead singer of the band, Crossing Coldwater, which has broken into the music industry with millions of sold albums. MTV’s new scripted drama of the same title looks into her adventures, choices and decisions as she tries to balance the perks and privileges of life in the spotlight with acting like a responsible professional.
Having achieved success with their albums, Kaya and her band now live a life of luxury, fame and stardom. They have fancy rides, high end clothes and are feted with the VIP treatment practically wherever they go. They are really living the high life and they deserve every bit of it through their talent and hard work. But success is not all glitter and glamour.
Through the parties and the extravagance, Kaya must still navigate in the cut-throat, high-pressure and often fickle worlds of music and entertainment. Business decisions have to be made that require her to think fast and smart. Will her choices be the right ones or will they someday come back to haunt her?
As if the business end of things didn’t pose enough challenges to the young artist, Kaya must also deal constantly with the personal issues that seem to be in constant supply among their Crossing Coldwater group. There is the awkwardness of having a drummer who also happens to be her ex-boyfriend. There’s also a womanizing guitarist who may only be interested in riding her coattails to attract women. There’s also the band’s straight-talking business manager who doesn’t always have their best interests at heart.
Catch Kaya on MTV every Monday at 10:30pm to see how this talented young artist manages her life, band and career through all the pitfalls, challenges and temptations of fortune and stardom.
