Duane Chapman attends powwow in HonoluluDog the Bounty Hunter star Duane Chapman and his family took part in The American Indian Pow Wow Association’s 33rd Annual Intertribal Pow Wow at Thomas Square in Honolulu.  The event, hosted by Jason Good Striker, took place on October 6 and 7, kicking off at 10am and concluding at 5pm.  This year, the Pow Wow’s theme was “Honoring Our Native Veterans,” and featured dancing, drumming, singing, arts and crafts and food.  Additionally, the non-competition Pow Wow was open to anyone who wanted to participate.

Chapman, known for his prolific career as a bounty hunter, and his family served as honorary guests at the event, with Yamncut performing as host drum, and the Young Grey Horse drumming group performing as special guest drum.  Other drumming groups that were present at the event include Hunter’s Moon from Big Island Hawaii, Wild Horse from Southern California and Wilde Rice from Oahu.  There was also a host of mainland dancers.

The Young Grey Horse provided some of the major singing for the dance and special segments of the celebration.  Duane Chapman’s youngest son, Garry, borrowed a chicken dance outfit from one of the singers and danced along with Native American performers from the island.  Not to be outdone, Chapman himself joined and helped to sing a song with the Young Grey Horse as they sang an intertribal dance tune.  Chapman’s wife, Beth, who also appears in A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter, and the family provided back-up vocals for the patriarch and the drumming group.

As a token of their appreciation, Duane Chapman presented the Young Grey Horse with a monetary gift.  At the end, he and his family were invited to drop by the Blackfeet Reservation and Browning, should they have some spare time in the future.

Meanwhile, fans of Chapman can see more of him in action when Dog the Bounty Hunter returns for its fifth season on A&E.
