Jennifer Lopez has just released her first ever solely Spanish speaking album.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the album Como Ama Una Mujer, which means How a Woman Loves, was co-produced by her husband and popular Latin singer, Marc Anthony.

Anthony, who married Jennifer in 2005, has been frequently criticized as being too unattractive for the stunning Jennifer Lopez.  But it seems the homely male singer is just as much a part of her work as he is a part of her love life. 

“We have different philosophies. I’ve been so disciplined. His process is ‘Chill, don’t kill yourself.’” Jennifer told Vanity Fair.  “With him I feel like I should relax and slow down. That’s a first for me.”

Lopez detailed the couple’s relationship. “We aren’t the type to separate our lives from our work. It’s a synergy: music, cinema, the everyday things and most importantly, our love.” Now with her Latin hubby, Jennifer seems more determined than ever.  It wouldn’t be a surprise if Anthony was a driving force in her switch to singing in Spanish.

Despite her original interest as a young performer to sing in Spanish, she was talked out of it.  In order to successfully jump-start her career, Lopez was told by Sony executive Tommy Mottola to sing in English.  Now that the singer/actress has a well established livelihood, she has decided to do what she wants.
“I thought that my career was going to be in Spanish music, honestly,” Lopez said to the L.A. Times. “My life took a different turn, which was great for me. But my heart was always kind of on the Spanish side.”

Lopez showed little concern for alienating any of her fan base due to her passion for the project.  “I know it’s not maybe what people would expect from me,” she said, “but this is a beautiful opportunity for me to show a side of myself that is such a big part of who I am.”

This is a surprising turn for the pop diva who always seemed to be more show than substance.  Perhaps the combination of a calm respectful marriage and a passion for her heritage will allow her to truly express herself artistically, as opposed to being financially driven.
