Hawkins3The citizens of Jericho are surprised when trucks arrive from New Bern carrying some of the windmills, ahead of schedule – and return most of their men. However, Eric’s not with them, and Stanley says there’s trouble in New Bern, resentment against Jericho for not warning them about Ravenwood. Russell quietly tells Jake he should be worried about Eric and Heather, who’s also remained behind.

Jake decides to head for New Bern to find his brother, and takes Hawkins along to help. New Bern has barricades with armed men, and they almost don’t let the Jericho men in, until someone recognizes Jake as “Johnston Green’s son.” New Bern is in bad shape, presumably because of Ravenwood. Sheriff-Mayor Constantino claims they’re looking for Eric. Jake and Hawkins doubt the whole story, and investigate on their own.

Meanwhile, back in Jericho, Stanley arrives home at the farm, and Mimi & Bonnie are happy to see him. Stanley’s not happy to see Sean, however. Sean makes an idiot of himself by insisting that all their problems could be solved if they just got the Internet back up. (“We could just order supplies online!”) Mimi tries to explain the theory of not pushing the teens apart because it will just make Bonnie want to be with Sean more, but Stanley doesn’t get it. Eventually Bonnie herself tells Stanley that she knows Sean can be an idiot, but that Mimi taught her that sometimes you have to put up with the idiotic stuff in order to get to the great stuff.

Mary goes to the Green house to tell Johnston and Gail the news, and Johnston ends up going with Mary to help fix the still, where they bond over stories about Eric. Gail seems irritated, but when he gets back home Johnston tells her “Eric left for a lot of reasons, but Mary might be why he comes back.”

Darcy is working at the cop shop. Jimmy the Clueless Cop goes on about how much they like having Darcy & the kids as houseguests, but is quite concerned about a drawing that Sam did, depicting a horrible murder scene. Darcy insists that it’s just the trauma of the whole situation, and that she’ll deal with it herself, but Jimmy talks to Sam anyway. Darcy worries that he’ll find out the truth, but Jimmy seems to believe that Sam is suffering from his parents’ separation.

Skyler still insists that she owns half the salt mine, and makes a deal with New Bern’s Russell to distribute salt in exchange for both profit and help with Grey, who’s fighting her claim of ownership. Grey doesn’t like it, and argues against working with Russell, saying he doesn’t care what New Bern thinks of Jericho. Russell ominously tells him he “needs to” care.

And, back in New Bern, Jake and Hawkins go to the factory, where Heather’s friend Ted claims Heather and Eric have gone home to Jericho, but Ted slips Jake a note asking them to meet him at his place later. When they get there, they find Perkins, a cop, staking out the place, and Ted says Perkins has the information they want. Hawkins prepares to torture him, which appals Jake, but after they get the info they want he explains that it’s only the threat of torture that works, not actual torture.

Perkins tells them Heather and Eric sabotaged the factory. They send Ted “someplace safe” (it’d be safer if he hadn’t told them where within earshot of Perkins), cuff Perkins to a pipe, and set off to break into the factory. Once there, they find the Top Secret Chalkboard that everyone on this show seems to keep so that their enemies can figure out what they’re up to in one simple step. (See also: Hawkins’ basement.)

The board shows an inventory of Jericho’s farms, and a map divvying it up amongst the New Bern people. They further learn the factory is making munitions, including mortar rounds. “They’re getting ready for war,” the Jericho men realize. Jake apparently sucks at sneaking around, and a chase scene ensues. Jake’s taken to a jail cell, where he finally finds Eric. Eric says he and Heather found the map, and Jake wants to know where Heather is. Eric tells him, “She’s dead, Jake.”

Perkins arrives, and takes Jake & Eric outside where Constantino has an angry mob all worked up about how awful Jericho is. And where’s Hawkins? He wasn’t caught, and is watching the whole thing. And…to be continued! Darn! Only a couple of episodes left this season – looks like they’re going to wrap it up with some action.

So is Heather really dead? I kind of doubt it. The Morse code in this episode said “one got away.” Any theories on what else that might mean? Comment below!
