You can watch the first minute of Adult Swim’s newest shows here.
The pilots are:
- Fat Guy Stuck in the Internet, based on the internet series “Gemberling” from John Gemberling and Curtis Gwinn
- Drinky Crow, based on Tony Millionaire’s Maakies comic strip
- That Crook’d Sip, from Nick Wiedenfeld (Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law) and Jacob Escobedo
- Superjail
- Let’s Fish
Obviously, I can’t say much about these shows based on one-minute clips, but I will say I love the animation style of That Crook’d Sip, which reminds me of the animated shorts from Sesame Street. Also, seeing comedians Brendon Small (Home Movies, Metalocalypse) and Scott Adsit (Mr. Show, Moral Orel, 30 Rock) together in Let’s Fish is stimulating my comedy-nerd nerves and turning me into a pile of giggly dork-jelly. I can’t wait for May 11 (when the shows appear online) and 13 (when they appear on TV).
Oh yeah, and if you’re a fan of Maakies, the Drinky Crow clip proves, I think, that they’ve captured the twisted humor of the comic strip quite well.
